I love this organization! This
public/private organization is dedicated to educating our youth so that they
are better prepared for the workplace and the skill we are predicting they will
need. This website is very well laid out and gives a lot of great
information for educators, policy makers, and the general community. They
fuse all of the skills we have taught in the past with the 4C's; critical
thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity.
I like that there
is a support system built into the website with documents and blogs.
There are also toolkits for implementing the skills with the Common Core
standards. I also like the simple graphic they use to show how all skills
are interconnected supported by standards, curriculum, professional
development, and environment.
I can see this
being a very useful website when implementing the 21st century skills into the
classroom. The implications for your students are endless. When
fully implemented I can see producing the most prepared students for the
workplace than ever before. You need to visit the site so you too can be
prepared to integrate the skills and prepare your students for success!

The organization was very informative. Many resources were usable and incorporated many of the the 21 st century skills. The Common Core tool kit was an area of particular interest for me. My district has delved heavily into Common Core; I am always looking for resources to help me gain more understanding as I teach my class. Many ideas were given in the resource section to connect the 3R's and 4C's together to prepare students for the workplace.
ReplyDeleteI also found the graphic very helpful because I am a very visual learner. I like how I can see the connection between the skills and support systems. When looking at the 4C's do you think there is one that is more important to instill (or teach) in students than others?
ReplyDeleteI think that communication may be the most important of the 4C's. Technology, the double-edged sword that it is, is creating a generation of people that would prefer to text or email instead of interacting face to face or through phone calls. Even though this is considered communication, it takes away the human, face-to-face element that is required in the workplace, even from great distances.
DeleteThe Partnership for 21st Century skills is really a very informative website. It is helpful in producing productive citizens. The toolkit for common core standards is very useful. It was developed to help states, districts and schools implement common core state standards and support ongoing 21st century skills initiatives. The graphics are also helpful in better understanding the information. This is a good site to get up to date 21st century information.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of the "4 C's", did you happen to notice the little section by Fablevision? It is how P21 presents the concepts of the 4 Cs in a little animated video. It was really cool, and I might even play it for my class. If you have a moment check it out.
ReplyDeleteThanks for pointing that out. It is a great little video.
